Behnisch Architekten Reconnecting to the US media

Situation

Germany-based Behnisch Architekten attracted a great deal of attention when it completed a prestigious project in Boston. But nearly a decade after that project was finished—and although the firm had a successful global practice—it had not sustained continued visibility in North America. In addition, the firm wanted to highlight its innovations in education and sustainability, which were central to its reputation. Hausman took a proactive approach that brought the firm great opportunities to get coverage for significant buildings and kept the leaders of Behnisch and their work consistently in front of the English-speaking press.

For us, as a German-American office, the professional help Hausman offers is very valuable; not only for managing our public relations efforts, but also for their personal advice on how business and PR work in the U.S. The market here is very differently structured than it is where I come from. In Germany, pursuing publication is considered immodest, not professional conduct. Here it’s an important element of architectural culture. So I am very grateful for Hausman’s help in understanding these cultural differences and supporting our work in a way that’s comfortable.
