How’s Your Mobile Site?

How important is a speedy mobile site? According to SOASTA’s The State of Online Retail Performance, a mere one-second delay in mobile load times can impact conversion rate by up to 20%. Because mobile is where most people turn when they want to know, it’s important to deliver the kind of mobile experience that people expect today: one that’s fast, engaging, and doesn’t get in the way of what they want to accomplish.

But moving at the speed of mobile means making the adjustments needed to continuously improve your site’s performance. This week, Google upgraded a nifty online diagnostic tool, Test My Site. Just type in your URL and it measures, benchmarks, and recommends ways on how to improve your mobile site speed. Among the features it evaluates:

  • The speed of both the entire site and of individual pages
  • Whether the site/page speed is faster or slower compared to the prior month
  • Whether the site speed/page speed ranks Fast, Average, or Slow
  • How the site speed compares to others in the industry

Upon completion of its analysis, Test My Site provides a detailed list of recommended fixes to increase speed on up to 5 pages on your site, and a complete report to share with your digital team.
